About Us
At the heart of PRG Resource is a story of lifelong purpose. Karin Rettger’s journey into financial services began not by chance, but by calling. At just 16 years old, she took her first job in a local Elmhurst financial office. It was there that she discovered a deep passion for helping people—especially women—understand and take charge of their financial futures.
After earning her degree in Finance from Elmhurst College and later an MBA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Karin built a career marked by both technical expertise and heartfelt client advocacy. In 2002, she founded Principal Resource Group (PRG) with the goal of guiding organizations through the complexities of retirement plans and employee benefits—always with a focus on transparency, compliance, and long-term impact.
In the employee benefits space, Karin became a recognized leader in group health plans, 401(k), 403(b), and 457 plans, as well as pension plans. Her leadership and innovation earned her recognition as one of the Most Influential Women in Employee Benefits in both 2016 and 2017, and she was named a Top Women Advisor by NAPA in 2015.
She also contributed her expertise as a thought leader, coauthoring the 2017 best-selling book Breaking Through the Status Quo, as well as Doing More with Less and 401(k) Plans. These works underscore her commitment to helping organizations and individuals make informed, impactful financial decisions.
As her work with companies deepened, so did her understanding that individuals needed more personalized guidance in managing wealth, investing with intention, and preparing for the future. That realization led to the creation of MyFinancialAdvisor.org, a division of PRG, in 2019. This branch was designed to serve individuals and families—particularly women—seeking to gain confidence and clarity around their personal finances.
Throughout her career, Karin has also given back to her community through volunteer work. She was a key leader at the Worldwide Employee Benefits Network (WEB) and an active member of the leadership committee for the Plan Sponsor Council of America (PSCA), a division of the American Retirement Association. In 2018, she was honored with the PSCA Volunteer Service Award. Recognizing that women comprised only about 10% of all financial advisors, Karin established an annual scholarship in 2017 to support a high school senior pursuing a career in finance—an initiative designed to open doors for the next generation of female leaders in the field.
Today, Karin focuses her work through MyFinancialAdvisor, helping clients with:
- Wealth and investment management tailored to their goals
- Holistic financial planning and retirement strategies
- A values-driven, empowering approach to decision-making
Her impact has earned her national recognition, including being named a Five-Star Wealth Manager multiple years running. Yet for Karin, the true reward has always been watching a client grow—whether it’s a business leader optimizing a benefits program or a retiree stepping into financial freedom with confidence.
At PRG Resource, we believe the best financial strategies start with listening. And that wealth isn’t just measured in dollars—it’s found in knowledge, in independence, and in the ability to live life on your terms.
